The aftermath... 3 days later.

Extreme tiredness, internal feelings of "almost pain", Restless Leg Syndrome; After Thursday, Friday and half of Saturday, the fatigue which had kept me from any activity lessoned. Now, Saturday night, the RLS is keeping me from sleeping. Luckily, less than 18 months left of this excitement!

What happens in 18 months?

In 18 months - if all goes well, I have enough phlebotomies during the year to keep the iron in a "normal" range. The balancing act will come as the bone marrow begins to have fibrosis - and the number of blood cells being created because of the PV decreases. At some point, there will not be enough cells being created to support life and transfusions would be needed to maintain life. Transfusions bring side effects - including unwanted additions of iron into the body.

I haven't got an educated guess as to the end-game, but I'm hoping it involves high speed races to the hospital for a transfusion - on my motorcycle! :)

What is, is.
